FOX 8 News App Reviews

Fox8 is my go to for news. I dont need all the adds clogging up my news articles. I also dont want pop up videos in my news, forcing me to watch something I dont want to see. Now there are videos built into the news feed Im trying to read, blaring out the sound forcing me to scramble to close it before it wakes the baby! All of these adds and videos slow the app down and most of the time are the reason the app crashes making it impossible to read the article. I would like to think that my voice would be heard here. But they will say the adds pay for the app. With so many adds and videos being forced upon me. It doesnt just pay for the app, it makes me not want to use it.

Update: App crashes seem to occur less often, however now when reading a story, videos randomly popup unrelated to what is being read. When closing them it then goes to the home screen. Does anyone test this app.before releasing it? Used to rely on this app, but since the last update it constantly crashes or freezes. In addition the popup ads are very intrusive and you cannot easily close them. Looking for a new local news app.

App is good when its working. Frequently get the play button with the line through it prohibiting live streaming. This is true of both the app as well as trying to livestream at fox8.com using safari. Cant figure it out since other times live streaming works perfectly. I reset my iPad, turn off then back on doing complete power down, delete the app then reinstall from scratch. Nothing works. The play prohibited of live streaming just seems to come and go at random. Sometimes I can livestream Fox 8 News, other times not. I think the problem might be with Livestream itself since I cant always livestream via Safari by going to fox8.com either. It might not be an app-only issue. I cant even be sure its an iPad issue. The same problems are happening on my iPhone as well. But its only with live streaming of Fox 8 News; not other internet videos such as YouTube, CNBC.com, etc. I also get the whole "event ended" and the "December 31, 2012" message displayed! I dont know where the fault is, but somebody needs to fix it.

Still bad even after update. Boots you off and very jittery

Continually freezes and crashes.

After the latest update this app is unusable on iPad. Once you start it and try navigating it shuts down. This happens every time. Plus the fact that the app has always had pause delays whee you cant move at all. Still needs a lot of work. The popup ads and commercials before all videos are ridiculous and irritating. The pop ups are sneaky to close, dont expect this from the supposed number one news station in Cleveland. Time to look elsewhere

Constantly crashes

Links do not work. Slow loading, constantly refreshes to the point of being unusable. Weather report is hours and sometimes a day old.

I use to love this app but now it crashes all the time and doesnt always begin playing again after commercials. Sticks on the Fox8 screen. On top of that the repetitive adds during commercials are beyond annoying!!

Unfortunately, although this app has the potential to be great, it is not. It freezes every time I click on a news story and the ads that pop up crash it too.

The ads are getting so annoying. Cant read an entire story without something popping up.

Now your app is as bad as WKYCs

Way too many ads for me to bother any longer with this app. Clicking on a story to have a near full screen ad appear and no way to close it (closes on its own after several seconds) is nuts. There are plenty other ways to get local news without this interference.

even with bug fixes app still wont let me read the complete news article - wont go past addition stories at bottom of page - bring back previous version till you can come up with something better - channel 5 app looking better for alternative

The old one is much better, looking for a new weather and news app.

Im deleting this app today. If you wanted to ruin it youve done a good job and if you had to pay to upgrade it you got robbed. Nothing good about it.

I agree the previous version was great. This new version wants to know your current location to use it. That makes it annoying to me as this was not the case until 8-5-15. It also freezes up all the time since it does not automatically refresh. I hate current version go back to what everyone loved, cause this app is awful.

I do not doubt that the articles on the app work as poorly as many have reported, however the only function I wanted was the live stream so that I could watch the GOP debate. So it worked for me, I guess

This updated version is horrible!! Deleting the app from my phone. Should have left it alone.

The previous version wasnt great but the new version is horrible. No landscape mode??? What idiot designed the new version? He or she obviously had no clue what they are doing. I see Im not the only one who feels this way.
