App crashes and ad pop ups

Update: App crashes seem to occur less often, however now when reading a story, videos randomly popup unrelated to what is being read. When closing them it then goes to the home screen. Does anyone test this app.before releasing it?

Used to rely on this app, but since the last update it constantly crashes or freezes. In addition the popup ads are very intrusive and you cannot easily close them. Looking for a new local news app.
